May Day Celebrations were set to get underway at the Black Country Living Museum today (Monday May 5).
Celebrations will get off to a colourful start with the centuries old tradition of Maypole dancing.
Children from Harlequin Youth Theatre with be demonstrating some fancy footwork as they perfrom a Maypole dance and weave their way around the Maypole in the museum's school yard.
Visitors can join in the fun as the children relive the traditions of earlier times.
They can also enjoy messing about on the water as tug boats gather at the museum for the annual tug boat event.
More than half the tug boats in existence will be attending the event today and will make a rare sight as they manoeuvre their way along the canal arm. Traditional canal crafts and streets games will also be available.
THE leader of Dudley Council claims town residents have been given a “smack in the teeth” after a planning inspector granted permission for the £18 million mosque and community training and enterprise centre.
