Binge with pills led to man's death

A BUILDER committed suicide after having problems with his marriage, Gravesend Coroner's Court heard.

Darryl Richard Thynne, aged 42, of Arthur Street, Gravesend, died from sleeping pills and anti-depressants.

His wife, Vicky Thynne, of Brandon Street, Gravesend, had left their home in December but had kept in contact.

Mrs Thynne said: “On the day before he died, I went out to lunch with my daughters. They sent a text message to him at 2.15pm but there was no reply.

“The following day, after staying at my parents' house, I let myself into the home where my husband was staying and found him lying on the floor.”

PC Ian Adams, from Gravesend police station, attended the scene. He said there was one empty vodka bottle and two empty pill packs, one of them anti-depressant cetrolene, the other zopiclone sleeping pills.

Pathologist Peter Jerreat said: “The liver was enlarged. Analysis showed fatal levels of sleeping pills and anti-depressants.

Coroner Roger Hatch, recording a verdict of suicide, said Mr Thynne took his own life while the balance of his mind was disturbed.
