Black History Month celebrated in Sedgley
PUPILS at Queen Victoria Primary School have been celebrating Black History Month with a day of fun and inspiring workshops.
All the children at the Bilston Street school in Sedgley took part in different art workshops to help them identify how black history has shaped the world we live in today.
The school’s youngest pupils took part in physical theatre sessions, looking at traditional African stories, while the older children participated in DJing, music production, creative writing, graffiti and dance workshops.
Reception teacher, Ruth Hemmings, who is also the school’s history coordinator, said: “I think it is important children appreciate different cultures and begin to understand how they have developed over time.
Black History Month is a great opportunity for us all to learn more about the world we live in and how history has helped shape it”.
