THOUSANDS of residents turned out to pay their respects to the armed forces as part of Dudley’s traditional Remembrance Sunday events.
People lined the streets to watch a parade of servicemen and women, community groups and civic dignitaries making its way through the town, before a memorial service was held at the cenotaph in Coronation Gardens.
The event, which included the two minute silence, also included the laying of wreaths as a mark of respect to the fallen.
Earlier in the morning a short service was held at the Clock Tower in Priory Street, where the end of the First World War was marked.
Councillor Melvyn Mottram, Mayor of Dudley, said: “It is warming to see thousands of people turn out to pay their respects to the people who give so much to this country.
“The Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day services are hugely important to us here in Dudley borough, and I thank people for coming out to show their support.”
