KEY Stage two children in Dudley are continuing to perform better in their English and maths SATS tests , according to figures released today.

Results show that 77 per cent of 11 year-olds in the borough achieved level four and above in both subjects – up by four per cent compared to last year.

In English alone, results were up two per cent, with 84 per cent of pupils of pupils achieving level four and above – the national expectation for children of that age.

In maths children raised the bar by three per cent compared to last year, with 82 per cent of pupils achieving the expected level.

And children hitting the higher level five target also increased by seven per cent to 35 per cent in English, while maths saw a six per cent rise to 36 per cent of pupils achieving the level five mark.

Councillor Tim Crumpton, cabinet member for children’s services, said:  “I am delighted with this year’s Key Stage two results which show pupils are performing well.

“These figures reflect just how hard our pupils, teachers and parents work and I’d like to congratulate them all on their continued effort and dedication. They should all be very proud of themselves.”
