SOME of the borough’s top sports stars were honoured at a civic reception with the Mayor of Dudley.
Paralympic shooter Richard Davies, from Norton, Olympic water polo player Alex Parsonage from Dudley and Paralympic pilot cyclist Helen Scott from Halesowen were invited to the celebratory event at Dudley Council House with the Mayor Councillor Melvyn Mottram and council leader cllr David Sparks.
The trio, who all had successes at London 2012, each received a glass vase handmade in Stourbridge’s Glass Quarter to mark the occasion.
Councillor Melvyn Mottram, Mayor of Dudley, said: “It has been a real honour to meet some of our London 2012 athletes, their hard work and dedication is a true inspiration.
”We want everyone in Dudley to take on more sport and physical activity and I hope youngsters from across the borough will follow in the footsteps of these remarkable champions.”
