A SEDGLEY support group for older people is celebrating after becoming ‘Friends of Age UK’.

Age Concern Sedgley and District has joined forces with national charity Age UK and borough charity Age UK Dudley to strengthen the opportunities, activities and services available to elderly residents.

By becoming Friends of Age UK, the group can also access grants from the national organisation and recently have been able to hold festive meal events with the extra funding.

Sally Huband, Age UK Dudley’s Chief Officer, said: “We are delighted to welcome Age Concern Sedgley and District to the Age UK network. Our organisations are independent, but in working closer together we can celebrate the great work that volunteers and older people provide in the local community and ensure we all share our skills, knowledge and expertise. This will represent a wealth of benefits for people in later life in Dudley borough.
