TWITTER users can follow the new West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner today as he tweets his way through a typical working day.

Starting before 9am, Bob Jones will give followers an idea of the role, duties and responsibilities of his new role as the commissioner of the country’s second largest police force.

Bob said: "The creation of Police and Crime Commissioners across England and Wales has led to some confusion, and the low turnout in last November's election tells us that people are uncertain about these new roles.

"By Tweeting through a normal working day, I hope that people will be able to get some idea of what the job entails. I hope the day will encourage people to take an interest in the governance and oversight of West Midlands Police."

Tweets will be posted on the account @WestMidsPCC, and will include #pccthursday.

Members of the public are encouraged to use the hashtag to comment and ask questions throughout the day.
