A LOWER Gornal law graduate has been honoured with one of the top law student awards in the country.

Hannah Westwood, of Red Hall Road, was awarded the DLA Award by international law firm DLA Piper.

The 23 year-old, who attended The College of Law in Birmingham, was given the award for obtaining the highest combined mark in the Corporate Business and Commercial Law parts of her Legal Practice Course – which all students must pass before proceeding to the next stage of practice.

Hannah, a former student at Ellowes Hall Sports College and King Edward VI College in Stourbridge, also graduated from the University of Leicester with a 2:1 degree in Law Hannah, who is now training as a solicitor with leading UK law firm SGH Martineau LLP in Birmingham, said: “I am very pleased to win this prestigious award. I’m now looking forward to starting my career in law and the new challenges which lie ahead.”
