DISABLED Dudley people can take advantage of an extra £263,000 of Government money for adaptations to their homes.
Residents can apply for a means-tested grant from the boroughwide allocation to fund aids including stairlifts, ramps and level access showers.
In addition to the Government funding, Dudley Council’s cabinet will next week consider a capital programme bid to add £350,000 to the project from the adult social care resources.
Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for housing, said: “Disabled facilities grants are very important as they allow borough residents to retain their independence when they have a disability.
“The adaptations also help to reduce the strain on hospitals as they often reduce the need for admission or support an earlier discharge.”
