PLANS have been revealed to move the current Merry Hill Post Office into a bigger, more modern and open-plan branch.

A six-week consultation has been launched to move the facility from its current location, opposite the bus station, to the upper level next to the management centre.

The proposed move is part of a major modernisation programme of the Post Office, with the new branch set to feature a more open-plan environment with six serving positions, a mixture of three open plan and two traditional screened counter positions, with a sixth serving point at the retail counter.

As part of the move, customers will also be offered extended opening hours from 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am until 5.30pm on a Saturday.

Post Office Regional Network Manager for Central England, Adrian Wales, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to customers at the Merry Hill Centre and we are confident that this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

The consultation will end on March 14.
