97 guests at Dudley ATC Squadron dinner

DUDLEY ATC Squadron hosted a formal RAF-styled dinner at the TA Centre for 97 guests.

The annual event is held on the first Saturday of February to commemorate the founding of the ATC, on February 5, 1941.

On this occasion the squadron hosted Group Captain Richard Allen, one of only six group captains in the ATC.

He was shown around the unit before sitting down with members and guests for a formal five-course dinner.

After the meal he stayed for drinks and chatted with other guests, including Gordon Willetts, the oldest member of Dudley Squadron who joined on day one – February 13, 1941.

He has been a member in some way ever since, although he was away while serving abroad in the Second World War.

Other guests included staff from Dudley Squadron and other ATC squadrons, parents and siblings of cadets,and two Squadron Leaders and five Flight Lieutenants.

One of the Flight Lieutenants was OC 347 (Dudley) Squadron, Flt Lt Kieron Hosell.
