Search launched to find top family businesses
9:00am Sunday 5th May 2013 in Local
THE search to find 2013’s best family businesses, their leaders and advisers, has begun, as nominations open for this year’s Midlands Family Business Awards.
The awards are the region’s only independent, not-for-profit initiative, and are underwritten and organised by insurance and financial advisory firm The Wilson Organisation, itself a third generation family business. The awards’ chosen charity for 2013 is The Outward Bound Trust.
Supporters for 2013 include headline sponsor Smith Cooper, the accounting and business advisory firm.
Ten categories for 2013 include the headline Midlands Family Business of the Year Award and the new Retail Excellence category, sponsored by Triplar.
Other categories are Best Small Family Business (turnover less than £5m for 2011/12), Fastest Growing Family Business, Service Excellence, Business Innovation, Commitment to the Community, Leading Adviser to Family Businesses, Manufacturing Excellence, and Outstanding Contribution.
Each of the 10 judging panels is led by a key figure from the family business community, who recognise and understand the unique issues of running a family business.
The awards independent panel of judges will review all entries to create a shortlist of five businesses across each of the 10 categories who each then make it through to the final stage when they will meet the judges in September.
All 2013 winners will be announced at an awards dinner on Thursday November 14.
Sponsors are Smith Cooper and Triplar, Barclays, Crouch Logistics, PwC, Royal Sun Alliance, Thomas Miller Investment, and Unum.
