CYCLISTS are invited to get on their bikes and join in the borough’s final free Sky Rides for this month.
Dudley Council has joined forces with British Cycling to promote the led rides, which cater for all abilities - from gentle family adventures to challenging jaunts for the committed cyclist.
The Three Counties Tour, taking in the quiet country lanes of Stourbridge, Kinver, Wolverley and Cookley, will take place on Sunday July 21, starting at 10am from Stanley Road car park, next to Mary Steven’s Park, Stourbridge.
The Saltwells Wood Explorer route also takes place on Sunday July 21. Cyclists should meet on Saltwells Lane car park at 2pm for a scenic 45-minute, traffic-free ride.
And the final two rides of the month will take place on Sunday July 28.
Over the Hills from Halesowen, a challenging 29-mile ride for those who want to test their road cycling skills, starts at 10am from Huntingtree Park activity centre, Huntingtree Road, Halesowen, and offers views from the area’s highest points.
While the Kingswinford Urban Escape ride, starts at 2pm from Himley Lane car park - around 50 yards beyond the Sandiacre Garden Centre.
Suitable for all ages - the ride is a scenic four-mile, traffic-free outing along a section of the Kingswinford Railway walk trail which runs from Himley to Wombourne.
Councillor Tracy Wood, Dudley’s cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “Dudley’s Sky Ride Local is a great way to get some exercise in some of our beautiful green spaces.
“With support from trained ride leaders, riders of all ages can feel confident of a ride suitable to their skill level and enjoy meeting new people.”
