Greens announce Dudley South candidate
5:33pm Monday 7th October 2013 in Local
DUDLEY'S Green Party has announced a new candidate for the next general election, expected in 2015.
Vicky Duckworth was chosen to be the prospective parliamentary candidate for the Conservative held Dudley South constituency.
The former primary school teacher, who is married to Green Party deputy leader and Dudley councillor Will Duckworth, was quick to highlight housing as her big issue for the campaign.
She said: "In Dudley there are over 6,000 households on the waiting list for a council house and we have dealt with several cases of homelessness where the council has been unable to offer people a home.
"We need to make use of the 4,000 homes that are standing empty in order to provide a decent standard of accommodation for all who are in need of it."
