DUDLEY people will be getting into the festive spirit with a host of events to celebrate the Christmas season.

The Mayor of Dudley will be hosting a traditional civic carol service on Wednesday December 18.

The service will be at St Thomas and St Luke’s Church (known locally as Top Church) starting at 7.30pm.

Dudley mayor, Cllr Alan Finch, said: “I’m really looking forward to the evening. The civic carol service always proves a success within the community and I hope that people will come along to remember what Christmas is all about.”

On Friday December 13, Himley Road Methodist Church will be holding a carol service featuring The Summerhill Choral Society. The show will start at 7.30pm.

St Andrew’s Choir and Singers will be holding a Christmas concert called Carol Time at St Andrew’s Church, Bilston Street, Sedgley, on Friday December 6 and Saturday December 7.

Performances start at 7.30pm and feature special guest musicians, tickets cost £5 – for more information or to book seats call 01902 882197.

Kates Hill Primary School, Beale Street, will hosting a Christmas Fair on Wednesday December 11. The event starts at 2.30pm and entrance costs 50p, the event will raise funds for the school’s HSA.

All Saints' Church, Vicar Street, Sedgley, will be holding a musicals themed christmas tree festival from Friday December 6 to Sunday December 8 and Friday December 13 to Sunday December 15. Admission will be free, refreshments will be available and the events will raise funds for the Embrace the Middle East Charity.

Magician and Ron Popple will be performing a series of magic shows at Dudley Museum on Saturday 14 December.

Grand Wizard Popple will be performing hourly magic show at the Dudley Council-run museum from 10am to 3pm. There will be magic, jokes, puppets and balloon modelling in this show suitable for all ages.

Churches Together will be staging a community carol concert for all ages at Netherton Arts Centre, Northfield Road, on Saturday December 14.

The free concert will start at 7.30pm will include live music, multi media presentations and performances from local schools.
