FUNDRAISERS for the Samaritans in Brierley Hill have been on song with a donation to the tune of £500.

The charity, which works to offer a friendly ear to people in emotional difficulty or contemplating suicide, has been benefiting from the work of a musical duo’s new album.

The record, by multi-instrumentalists Andy Miles from Willenhall and Becky Pickin from Pensnett, who perform under the name Grande Valise, has already sold around 70 copies to raise the cash.

Andy Miles said: “We love making music and wanted to do something for charity too. We chose Brierley Hill Samaritans for all of the great work they do for people at their lowest ebb who need someone to talk to in confidence. Brierley Hill Samaritans are all passionate volunteers so it's fabulous to support them.”

Grande Valise's 15-song album, Minnewater, is inspired by 60s pop and indie and features the duo playing ten instruments between them.

Copies are still available to buy and Andy and Becky are eyeing their next milestone of hitting a £1,000 target for the Samaritans.

The duo chose to support the Samaritans after Miss Pickin saw up close the work the charity does while she was working for Dudley Council for Voluntary Service.
