A DUDLEY man has gone the extra mile to raise cash for emergency relief in the Philippines after recovering from a disaster of his own.
Angrej Singh and his friends from the Britannia Inn, Queen’s Cross, raised £1,009 for the relief effort following in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan which left around 10,000 dead.
The 54-year-old, from Spring Park, ran five miles in Dudley to raise around half the total, despite suffering multiple injuries, including a double break to one of his legs, after being knocked off his bike by a lorry last year.
Mr Singh, a security officer and junior football coach, said: “The accident made all the difference, when I started walking the course I could feel it when I was going up the hills.
“This is the first time I have done this sort of thing, I’m quite proud, it restores faith in human nature – there are some decent people about.”
