A GORNAL man who became one of Britain’s leading gospel singers in the 70s and 80s has been back to the studio to record a new album.
Dave Pope performed around the world and recorded a number of hit albums including Sail Away which was produced by Sir Cliff Richard.
However despite his success Dave put making music on the back burner to dedicate himself to charity work including as founder of Flame Trust, which promotes community involvement and supporting disadvantaged people.
The lure of the recording studio eventually became irresistible and a year ago he joined forces with his former colleague songwriter John Daniels for a new album entitled Still Waters which features new arrangements of old songs plus new material.
Dave Pope said: “It was never my intention to go back to the studio, I do enjoy making music, but never considered that this should be the one string on my bow.”
