PEOPLE can learn more about the coal mining in days gone by and old fashioned Black Country humour in Dudley Council's continuing series of history talks at borough libraries.

Dudley geologist Graham Worton will be talking about the history of coal mining in Sandwell Valley on Wednesday January 29 at Dudley Library.; and there will be an afternoon of Black Country humour, poetry and banter, presented by David Bartley, at Stourbridge Library on Friday January 31.

Councillor Stuart Turner, Dudley’s cabinet member responsible for libraries, said: “Our aim through our local history talk programme is to provide informative, interesting and educational topics that will appeal to many borough residents.

“Our current local history talk programme continues until March, people can find out more information about future talks on our website.”

The talks start at 2.30pm and admission is £3 (which includes refreshments).
