A WOMAN needed hospital treatment after being thrown from a horse and hit by a lorry in Sedgley.

The incident happened on Gospel End Road at around 2.50pm on Friday February 7.

The rider was on the pavement when a Scania with a large blue steel container on the rear, approached from behind.

The horse reared and the woman was thrown onto the road, into the path of the lorry. The vehicle was in collision with the horse and the rider.

The animal sustained a facial injury and the rider suffered a suspected back injury.

The lorry driver stopped and spoke to the woman but left the scene without leaving his details, a passing motorist also stopped but also left no details.

Anyone with information is asked to phone PC Lee Hardy at Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 458 of February 7.
