A BRIERLEY Hill man is set to appear in court accused of violent disorder during a demonstration in Birmingham.

Jake Hill, aged 21, of Mill Street, is among twenty men arrested after an English Defence League protest in July 2013.

The men were detained during a nationwide police hunt for people involved in alleged violence in the city centre which included an appeal on the BBC Crimewatch programme.

EDL supporters gathered in Centenary Square for the July 20 protest, a counter demonstration took place in Chamberlain Square at the same time.

Around 2,000 people were involved in the two protests and a total of 31 people have been identified from the images of 57 people released during the appeal.

Jake Hill is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday February 27.
