BOROUGH bookworms are being encourage to read a variety of books before voting for their favourite.

Six titles have been nominated for the Dudley Teenage Book Awards, which urges youngsters to broaden their horizons and read books they would not otherwise read.

The nominated books are Anthem for Jackson Dawes by Celia Bryce, Northwood by Brian Falkner, Smuggler’s Kiss by Marie-Louise Jensen, Midnight Pirates by Ally Kennen, Poison Boy by Fletcher Moss and The Last Minute by Eleanor Updale.

Councillor Stuart Turner, cabinet member responsible for libraries, said: “This is an excellent way of encouraging young people in the area to read more. The Teenage Book Awards represent a great partnership between Dudley’s secondary schools, public libraries and the school’s library service.”
