A BRIERLEY Hill man who has spent months complaining about the pothole-ridden road he lives on, has welcomed news that the council will be resurfacing it this week.

Mark Edwards of Moor Street, said the condition of the road was "diabolical" and claimed parts of his house shook when large vehicles went over them.

The 36-year-old had complained to Dudley Council on numerous occasions over the last 12 months but said instead of permanently repairing the road, potholes were just filled in and reappeared days later.

But the council has now announced the road will be closed between High Street and North Street, tomorrow (Thursday), Friday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and the following Sunday while workers resurface the carriageway.

Mr Edwards said: "It's excellent news. It's a shame that it takes someone to make a noise like that to get something done but the outcome is positive."

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for transportation, said: "Resurfacing work on Moor Street is now underway as it was programmed as part of this year's works."

He said that neighbouring road, Fenton Street, was also being considered for repair when future highway maintenance programmes were agreed in the coming months.

While the work takes place, diversions for weekday closures will be along Fenton Street, Station Road, High Street Brockmoor and Norwood Road.

The diversion for Sunday closures will be High Street, Bank Street, High Street Brockmoor and Norwood Road.
