A DOG was tasered by police following an incident in Kates Hill when a cat was killed.

Police were called to Hollyhock Road just before 3.30pm on Tuesday March 25 after reports two dogs which may are described as possibly Japanese Akita dogs were on the loose.

A member of the public was bitten and suffered a wound to his arm after trying to stop the dogs who were also reported to have killed a cat.

The dogs were found in Corporation Road and seized while officers work to trace their owner.

Chief inspector Julian Harper, from West Midlands Police, said: “I would appeal to anyone who can help us establish the ownership of the dogs to call police on 101.

“It was important for us to contain the situation as soon as possible and one of the dogs had to be tasered as it continued to act aggressively.

“We will continue to make enquiries to trace the owner and would urge them to call us as soon as possible."

The tasered animal was taken to a vet for examination after it was captured.
