BIG hearted Kelly Mullings didn't forget the kindness shown to her by Brierley Hill based charity the Paul Ackrill Fund after she was diagnosed with cancer late last year.

The fund helped her financially while she currently receives treatment and Kelly was determined to help pay them back.

She is holding a charity day to raise cash for the fund on Sunday April 27 at the Crystal Leisure Centre, Stourbridge, where family and friends have rallied around to take part in a number of sporting events.

Kelly, who is 23 and from the Hawbush Estate in Brierley Hill, was studying to be a PE teacher at University of Birmingham when diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphona last December and is currently halfway through six months of treatment.

She said: "My nurse at Russells Hall Hospital got in touch with the Paul Ackrill Fund and they helped me. They are only a small local charity and I wanted to something for them".

Around 30 family and friends will take part in a variety of activities throughout the day and are hoping visitors will support them by making a donation.

They will also be raffling off a chocolate hamper in reception and holding a bucket collection outside Tesco supermarket in the Crown Centre from 10am to 4pm.

Kelly added: "It's not just about raising money, but raising the profile of the Paul Ackrill Fund at the same time".
