BLACK Country favourite Maggie O’Hara led Dudley’s St George’s Day celebrations for hundreds of party goers in Brierley Hill.

The borough’s official party took place on April 26 and featured a packed programme of family entertainment.

The day kicked off with a performance from the Sedgley Morris Men before the Halesowen Scout Band took centre stage.

The Dudley Council-organised show was officially opened at 10.30am by civic dignitaries and invited guests and activities continued until 3pm.

On the main stage Maggie O’Hara led a patriotic sing-along and jointly hosted a free tea dance with Avril Watkins at the town hall.

Other attractions included performances from Brierley Hill Musical Theatre, Black Country Gaz, Kingswinford Air Training Corps and the creators of the Black Country anthem - The Empty Can.

Children were entertained by free fairground rides, face painting, craft activities and a birds of prey display while a Great Brierley Hill Bake-Off competition gave visitors the chance to show their culinary skills.
