BOROUGH bookworms will be able to meet some talented wordsmiths at an event at Dudley Archives.

The Tipton Road centre will be hosting a readers’ afternoon on Saturday May 17.

The event, co-ordinated by the West Midlands Readers’ Network, will give visitors an opportunity to meet with authors to celebrate Dudley’s Big Book Fortnight.

Visitors to the event will include novelist and short story writer Lindsay Stanberry-Flynn, whose latest novel The Piano Player’s Son was published last year as well as Amanda Smyth, author of Black Rock.

Nathan Filer, author and winner of a Costa Award in 2014 and Kate Long, author of Bad Mothers Handbook and Before She was Mine will also be taking part.

Andrea Pope-Smith, Dudley director of adult, community and housing services, said: “The afternoon promises to provide an insight into what it’s like to be a successful author but also an opportunity to explore our wonderful new archives centre.”

Big Book Fortnight is an annual celebration in libraries across the Black Country of books and local authors. This year it will run from May 10 to May 24.

The event will run from 1pm to 4pm, tickets are £5 and include afternoon tea. People can call their local library to book a place at this event.
