Borough BBQ hosts wanted to turn up the heat and help beat cancer
5:17pm Tuesday 27th May 2014 in Local
MEN and women across the borough are being urged to become BBQ heroes this summer by pulling on their aprons, bringing out the burgers and cooking up some cash for Cancer Research.
The charity’s latest fundraising campaign is urging supporters to host a BBQ in July or join in the Big BBQ Bonanza on the weekend of July 19-20.
Hosts can now sign up for their free fundraising pack and start planning their sizzling spectaculars.
Paula Young, the charity’s spokesman for the West Midlands, said: “We know that people will be getting out their BBQs come rain or shine, so it’s the perfect opportunity to join forces with grillers right across the UK in raising money for a worthwhile cause.
“It’s not about gourmet grub or manicured gardens – it’s about chicken wings, ketchup and good times. We’re inviting men and women across the region to join a nation of BBQ’ers getting fired up in the fight against cancer.”
She added: “Our aim is that one day everyone will beat this devastating disease and the more research we fund, the sooner that day will come. That’s why we’re calling on our BBQ heroes in the West Midlands to rally their friends, families, work colleagues and neighbours to get their grill on and tell cancer to burger off.”
