THE Mayor of Dudley has been bowled over by support for her upcoming charity cricket match in Stourbridge.

A team of council officers will take on Dudley borough councillors on Friday (June 20) at Stourbridge Cricket Club, from 6pm.

The two teams will be going head to head to raise cash for Councillor Margaret Aston's chosen charities, Action Heart and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Stourbridge Fairtrade has also stumped up two hampers crammed full of goodies to help boost funds.

This is the third time that the group, made up of a small band of dedicated volunteers, has donated prizes to the Mayor's charities, helping to raise money for local people in addition to their campaign work.

Cllr Aston said: “I’m delighted that support is already coming in for the cricket match. We’ve got two teams of people who are willing to give up their time for charity, and now we have this wonderfully kind donation from Stourbridge Fairtrade.

“I hope to see as many people as possible on the night to help raise some much needed funds for these two very worthwhile charities.”

Spectators are welcome to attend the match, which will be followed by a raffle and auction.
