DUDLEY people have the chance to enjoy some seaside fun without a long haul on the motorway to the coast.

Himley Hall and Park is shipping in 120 tonnes of play sand to build an inland beach for an under 5s day on Friday June 27.

The event will also see the creation of its own railway station for the Himley Land Train to give visitors free rides around the park.

Councillor Hilliary Bills, Dudley cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “This annual event attracts lots of visitors and I’m sure it will continue to be as popular as ever this year.

“There is always so much do at the Under 5s Day including this year’s addition of an indoor soft play area.”

The event will also feature story telling and puppet shows, seaside garden games, crazy golf, face painting, donkey rides and mini funfair rides.

Gates open at 10am until 3pm and admission costs £3.50 for adults and children aged two to five years, children under two are free. A family ticket costs £12 for two adults and two children and free car parking is available.
