TOUCHING letters penned by the father of a premature Black Country baby during her battle for survival, will be turned into a book.

Daisy-Mae Little was born three-and-a-half months early at Russells Hall Hospital on December 1 last year, weighing just 1lb 13oz.

Parents Wayne and Jennie Little, from Pensnett, barely left her side during her 108 day stay on the neonatal unit and 'Little Daisy-Mae - The Girl Who Couldn't Wait' is an account of the emotional rollercoaster they experienced.

The book features Wayne's frequent Facebook posts about Daisy-Mae's progress, which captured the hearts of thousands of well-wishers across the world, alongside exclusive photographs.

Diary entries that Wayne wrote to his daughter, entitled 'Dear Daisy-Mae, a letter from your dad' will also be included in the book.

Wayne admitted he was unsure when first approached by the publisher, but after some consideration, decided the book could help other families and hopes to get a copy placed in neonatal wards across the country.

He said: "It is a great feeling that what I have written to help my daughter understand what she went through could help other parents. Even if it only helps one family, it will be worth it.

"I still can't believe its happening and my words are going to be in print. When I was writing, that was the furthest thing from my mind.

"I have worded it in simple terms, I imagined reading it to her when she was sat on my knee."

Wayne said his daughter is "thriving" and added: "She's starting to sample Jen's homemade cooking and is piling on the weight, she now weighs nine pounds nine ounces."

The book, priced £11.99, will be released on September 13, to coincide with Daisy-Mae's christening at St Mark's Church, Pensnett.

Copies can be pre-ordered online at www.oodlebooks.com/daisy-mae.

For every book ordered before the release date, Solpreneur Publishing will donate £1 to a charity of Wayne and Jennie's choice.
