FAMILIES will be able to immerse themselves in wartime Britain as part of the Black Country Living Museum’s plans to commemorate the centenary of the Great War.

Hands-on activities, taking place from July 21 to August 31, will centre on the lives of the Black Country folk as they prepared for one of the deadliest conflicts in history.

Visitors will have the chance to take part in army drills, a themed trail introducing characters of WWI, write and print postcards to ‘send home’ and as well as watch wartime films in the village cinema.

Jo Moody, senior curator at the museum said: “We want these activities to give visitors a real sense of the mood at the time and also gain insight into how the war affected different ages and communities.”

The museum will also be encouraging visitors to dress up and share their family’s WWI stories.

Tickets will be running at normal rates, with a 10% discount available to those booked online in advance.
