BLACK Country people have been asked to share inspiring examples of bravery, dedication and resilience in the animal world.
The RSPCA has launched its Animal Hero Awards and is urging people to nominate a person or animal that deserves to be recognised.
Categories include Young Animal Enthusiast of the Year, Public Service Animal of the Year and Hero Animal of the Year - for animals that have shown outstanding courage in a time of crisis.
David Canavan, of the RSPCA said: "We are delighted the awards celebrate the bond between people and animals. The RSPCA was formed 190 years ago, and throughout that time we have been inspired by incredible stories of bravery, courage and compassion between animals and humans.
“Despite the shocking things we see on a day-to-day basis, we firmly believe that we are a nation of animal lovers, and now is the perfect time to recognise and celebrate this."
Nominations must be made online at www.animalheroawards.co.uk/nominate.html by Friday October 17.
