A WOMAN has been injured during an armed robbery at a supermarket in Netherton.

Three masked men armed with machetes burst into Aldi on Saltwells Road at around 7.15am today (Wednesday September 10).

The men threatened staff before escaping with a quantity of cash, the woman, an employee aged 22, suffered a minor cut to her hand during the incident.

Detective Sergeant Greg Evans, from West Midlands Police, said: “Our officers have been at the supermarket this morning carrying out forensic examinations of the scene and looking at CCTV.

“The only description we have of the men is that they were wearing face coverings and spoke with local accents. We know they got into a waiting car and left the area towards Cradley Heath and we would welcome any further information on that vehicle.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen the men either before or after the robbery, and I would urge them to call us immediately on 101."
