BLACK Country bikers will be hitting the road to raise funds for Mary Stevens Hospice on Sunday (September 14).

Up to 100 riders are expected to complete the 50 mile route and will set off from Quatt Cafe, Bridgnorth Road, at 10am and travel through Bridgnorth and Bewdley before finishing at the Oldswinford hospice.

Keen rider Emma Wilkes, from Netherton, has recruited her friends from the Bikers Are Family group to take part as the charity looked after her sister, Hazel Slater, who passed away last month after a battle with cancer.

The 34-year-old said: “We do charity rides every weekend to raise money for different charities and this time I wanted to give something back to say thank you to them for looking after my sister. I’d like to raise as much as possible.”

Each biker will pay £5 to take part and a raffle and auction will take place at the hospice on their return at around 12.30pm, with prizes donated by local businesses up for grabs.
