POLICE have released shocking video of a high-speed car chase through Dudley which landed the son of a celebrity behind bars.

Martin Doherty, the son of Celebrity Big Brother winner Paddy Doherty, drove a stolen BMW M3 through Dudley in December 2012 before crashing and attempting to flee officers.



 

He was arrested hiding in a garden close to the crash scene, on the A123 Birmingham New Road and has now been sentenced to 14 month jail after he admitted aggravated vehicle taking. He was also banned from driving for three years.

The 20-year-old, from Riverside Caravan Park, Queensferry, North Wales, was in the car with four passengers was spotted driving erratically by police in Tipton and the dramatic video shows the pursuit through Dudley including along Priory Road and past the town’s magistrates court.

 

The film also shows the BMW being driven along the wrong side of the road and forcing an oncoming vehicle to reverse out of the way at a junction as cops close in.

In the final seconds of the film the wreckage of the stolen BMW is seen on the side of the road after smashing into another vehicle, leaving the driver badly injured.

At the end of the case at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Judge Martin Walsh ruled only a jail sentence was appropriate for Doherty.
