A NETHERTON man - the former Chairman of a Cycle Speedway Club - has denied carrying out sex attacks on a schoolboy.

Peter Dalley, of Marriot Road, pleaded not guilty to two charges of indecent assault on the boy when he appeared before Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The 64-year-old is alleged to have carried out the sex attacks on the boy who was under 16 years of age between February 1987 and February 1989.

Judge Nicholas Webb remanded Dalley on conditional bail until May 13 when his trial is scheduled to begin.

The judge was told by John Evans, prosecuting, the trial is expected to last for up to three days.

He granted Dalley bail with conditions including no unsupervised contact with any child under 16 years of age.

Dalley was the chairman of the Sandwell Cycle Speedway Club which was based at Tividale Community Centre but it has now disbanded.
