SUPERMARKET chain Aldi has recalled packs of chocolate stocked at stores across the Black Country after salmonella was found in a batch.
The strain of food poisoning was found in 200g packs of Choceur Treasures with a best before date of September 1 2015.
Part of the firm's Choceur continental chocolate range, the product is described as whole hazelnut wrapped in waffle and milk chocolate.
Anyone who has bought the item is advised not to eat it but to return it to their nearest store after the Food Standards Agency issued a formal Product Recall Information Notice.
Aldi stores in Bridgnorth Road, Wollaston; New Road, Stourbridge; Dudley Road, Brierley Hill; Peartree Lane, Dudley; Saltwells Road, Netherton; and Earls Way, Halesowen, are listed on the FSA website as having stocked the chocolates.
No other Choceur or Aldi products are known to be affected.
An Aldi spokesperson said: “The safety of our shoppers is our number one priority and this was an isolated incident.”
