STOURBRIDGE Historical Society’s next meeting will feature a talk by Ned Williams on ‘The Earl of Dudley’s Railway’.

It will be held in the Wollaston Room at Stourbridge Town Hall on Thursday February 19 at 7.30pm.

Ned, who fell in love with the Black Country when he stopped off to study the area in 1962, has written and published more than 40 books about the area and developed more than a dozen talks.

In this latest talk, he discusses the railway built by the Earls of Dudley to link together various parts of their industrial empire.

The railway moved coal from Lord Dudley’s pits, including Baggeridge, to nearby canals and the Round Oak Steel Works; and before World War II it transported staff from the Round Oak to annual fetes at Himley Hall.

For more details about the talk check out www.stourbridgehistoricalsociety.com or call David Hickman on 01384 274014.

Visitors are welcome.
