YOUNG people of Dudley borough are being celebrated for their achievements this week at the annual Dudley Youth Awards.

An audience of 400 young people and guests will congregate at Stourbridge Town Hall on Friday, March 6, for the Dudley Youth Council run ceremony.

The six award categories, including arts and entertainment, sport and contribution to school or college, celebrate the inspirational work of the borough’s young people aged 11 to 19-years-old – or up to 25–years-old for young people with a disability.

Councillor Tim Crumpton, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Dudley Youth Council’s work goes on throughout the year and this special evening allows them to celebrate their achievements together with many other young people doing great things in their communities across the borough.”

Another award - the Mary Growcott award, named after a local lady who dedicated her life to helping young people, will be given to an inspirational adult who young people consider to have made a difference to the lives of youngsters.

This year’s awards have been sponsored by Aspire People which places more than 750 teachers in schools and colleges every week across the Midlands.
