A BLACK Country charity has been opening its doors to a variety of clubs and societies to use its modern meeting facilities.

Organisations have been renting rooms at Beacon’s Sedgley centre, to hold their events and swell the charity's coffers, which helps the group support a range of services for people of all ages living with a visual impairment.

Pete Moodie, community engagement officer at Beacon, said: “As an organisation that exists to support local needs – and with our philosophy of getting the best value out of every resource available to us – we feel it is important that we work with the community to benefit our neighbourhood.

“We invited local groups to hire space for their meetings and events and the response has been superb.

“Currently we have regular bookings for activities such as yoga, an audio book group, over-60s health and fitness, circuit training and even a ‘bums and tums’ exercise class.”

The Beacon centre includes meeting spaces suitable for groups of fewer than 25 up to a purpose-built conference room large enough for 100 people. The building also offers free WIFI, parking, and its own coffee shop and restaurant.
