‘DANCING Grannies’ The Fizzogs will be the warm up act at this weekend’s Great Black Country Run taking place in Halesowen.

The run, organised by the Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club in conjunction with Halesowen Athletics Association, is taking place on Sunday July 5 – as part of Black Country Festival celebrations.

The Fizzogs’ performance at last year’s Black Country Festival at Stourbridge Carnival went viral on social media so the comedy group have been invited to warm up runners taking part in the main 10K run which will be officially started at 9am by Mayor of Dudley – Councillor Steve Waltho.

Steve Edwards, chairman of the Black Country Festival said: “The Fizzogs really demonstrate their brilliant sense of humour in a way that is enjoyable and entertaining for people of all ages.

“By asking them to come in and warm up the runners will hopefully get them laughing their way to the start and the finish line.”

Councillor Pete Lowe, leader of Dudley Council, said: “This is going to bring something completely new to the Black Country Run. The Fizzogs’ performance at last year’s Black Country Festival went down a storm and we are expecting nothing less this year.”
