VISITORS to Dudley Museum are champing at the bit to see the 2,500 My Little Ponies that are on display over summer.

The collection of one of the best selling toys of the 80s has trotted in to entice youngsters and reignite happy memories for their parents who remember the ponies from the first time around.

The My Little Collection exhibition features a variety of ponies, from the smallest - at less than an inch tall - to the largest, which stands at three foot tall, as well as books, bags and other merchandise.

It is thought to be the biggest exhibition of My Little Pony to be staged in the country to date, and organisers are hoping to put in an application to Guiness World Records for the largest ever single pony collection on display.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member responsible for museums, said: “This is a delightful exhibition which charms children and brings a massive wave of nostalgia to those adults who coveted these toys as youngsters themselves.

“The range of ponies on display and the sheer scale of the exhibition is remarkable. We are not aware of an exhibition like this being held before in the UK and we are taking this opportunity to attempt to get the collection recognised by Guiness World Records.

“I am sure this will be one of Dudley Museum’s most popular exhibitions yet and being in the Guiness Book of Records would be another achievement for Dudley.”

The free exhibition will run until October 31.
