HUNDREDS of amateur snappers zoomed in on animals at Dudley Zoo in hope that their photograph would feature in the 2016 calendar.

The zoo's photographer Jason Skarratt had the difficult job of selecting 13 winning shots - one for each month and another for the front cover.

Winning entries included shots of a black and white ruffed lemur, meerkat and snow leopard.

The zoo's marketing manager Andrea Hales said: "Standards were incredibly high but we are thrilled with the finished 2016 calendar and we're sure it will be popular with our visitors.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who entered the calendar competition and offer our congratulations to the winners on their impressive images.”

The calendars, which are A4 landscape, are available in the Safari Gift Shop, priced £4.99.

Proceeds from the sales will be given to Painted Dog Conservation in Zimbabwe - an organisation which helps endangered African hunting dogs in the wild through action and education.

The 2015 calendar raised £700 for 21st Century Tiger, which supports wild tiger conservation projects.
