DUDLEY Zoo’s animals can now enjoy some extra shut-eye as the site reverts to its winter opening hours from today (Thursday).

During weekdays, visitors will be able to gain entry from 10am until 3pm, with the 40-acre site closing 90 minutes later.

Weekend visitors will still have an extra hour to see their favourite species, as the last admissions will be at 4pm for the next few weeks.

Zoo manager, Matt Lewis, said: “We’re coming up to darker evenings, when it drops dusk quite quickly and there are less visitors on site by that time of day.

“During this time we always make sure the animals are safely inside for the night at 5pm.”

The shorter hours will remain in place until Easter.
