AN Armistice Day service and tribute in Dudley town centre honoured the heroic people who gave their lives in World War One.
Dudley Council organised the service at the Clock Tower in Priory Street yesterday morning (Wednesday November 11) which included the traditional two minutes silence.
Residents, local traders as well as armed forces veterans, councillors and civic dignitaries went along to pay their respects.
Outside the Clock Tower students from Castle High School read tributes at the service and Wordsley School pupils performed a song which they had composed.

Councillor Steve Waltho, Mayor of Dudley, said: “It was heart-warming to see so many people attend the service this morning to pay their respects for our countrymen and women who lost their lives in the Great War.
“Thank you to everyone who came to show their support and especially the school pupils who made such a lovely contribution to this important occasion.”
The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Steve Waltho
The service was part of a series of events organised or supported by the council to mark the period of Remembrance including a service and parade on Remembrance Sunday and a charity concert at Dudley Town Hall with the Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir in aid of the Royal British Legion.
