BRITAIN’S Got Talent winners Collabro got Brierley Hill in the festive spirit at the weekend as they switched on Merry Hill’s Christmas lights.

The musical theatre boy band got thousands in the crowd in the party mood as they performed a number of hits and Christmas classics.

After their headline performance, the band was joined on stage by Santa Clause to light up the shopping centre.

Speaking to the News straight after coming off stage, the band said: “It was absolutely amazing being on stage and getting to be the ones to press the button.

“We can’t believe how many people came out to watch us perform; the crowd was brilliant and made us feel so welcome.”

Since winning the 2014 series of Britain’s Got Talent, Collabro have been touring non-stop so the group will be taking a short break this Christmas to spend time with their families, before heading back out on another tour in the new year.

The group said: “When we first got together we never thought we would have the success we have had. Especially coming off the kind of show which we did.

“Each year new talent comes through from shows like Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor and The Voice, so you do get the feeling that people will forget about you; but we just seem to be getting more popular.

“We still have a fear before each gig that we will walk out and there would be no one in the crowd except our mums, but luckily that’s yet to happen!”

As part of their global tour, the band have played in a number of countries before finishing in Japan last week.

They will return to the West Midlands during their Act Two tour in March where they will play one night at the Symphony Hall.
