KIND-hearted students at Holly Hall Academy have raised £1,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

Pupils  pulled in the pounds by organising a winter wonderland fayre at the Scotts Green Close school on December 18.

Year 11 student Aisha Islam said the students' favourite activity on the day was 'sponge the teacher' and she wished to thank all staff members that put themselves up for a soaking.

She continued: "Other activities such as henna tattoos and the tombola were also a great success and the raffle was very popular."

Aisha also wished to thank her fellow students who helped both on the day and in the run up to the event, which raised £897.14.

Youngsters helped to boost the total up to £1,000 by making a donation in return for being able to wear their Christmas jumpers on the last day of term.

Ingrid Lee, director of Key Stage 4 said: “This was a very well organised event and I am amazed at the amount that was raised.”

Nancy Lillington, regional fundraiser at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “We would like to say a massive thank you to the students at Holly Hall Academy for raising such a fantastic amount of money.

“The funds they have donated will help to make a huge difference to the brave children and families who visit our neonatal ward at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.”
