DUDLEY Zoo is inviting young visitors to discover more about its wild birds throughout half term.

And there’s a chance to win an adoption for Echo the barn owl and a selection of wild bird goodies by taking part in a bird survey.

Presenter Dorrie Hall, said: “We’ve got lots of small wild birds around the site so we’re challenging our young visitors to keep their eyes peeled for several of the species of birds they’ll see on the zoo during their visit.

“We’ve selected birds that the children will be able to easily identify and mark off each time they spot them.”

The survey coincides with National Nest Box Week, which runs between February 14-21, where bird lovers are encouraged to add nest boxes into their garden for the breeding bird population.

Completed forms need to be left in the gift shop and for a chance to win the owl adoption package, young visitors need to answer a prize draw question on the sheet.

There will also be a range of themed crafts running throughout the week in the Discovery Centre, including bird bunting and colouring-in sheets and the chance to learn all about National Nest Box Week and the best types of nest box to use for different species with a colourful display board.
